And What you can You Do About It?
Let’s talk about one of the most common concerns we hear from women: “Why am I holding onto belly fat, even though I’m exercising and eating well?”
Here’s the truth:Women are biologically wired to store more fat—especially around the tummy—as a protective mechanism for hormones, fertility, and energy reserves. But that doesn’t mean you’re stuck with it and it DOESN'T mean doing LOADS of core exercises either 🙄
Top reasons belly fat can be stubborn:
Hormonal Imbalances – Cortisol (your stress hormone) and oestrogen can lead to central fat gain, especially during stress or perimenopause/menopause.
Poor Sleep – Less than 7 hours a night can disrupt hunger hormones and increase cravings.
Long-Term Dieting – Under-eating for too long can slow your metabolism and lead to fat storage.
Lack of Strength Training – Cardio’s great, but without resistance work, your body struggles to shift stubborn fat.
Here’s what helps:
Prioritise Protein – Supports lean muscle, balances hormones, and keeps you fuller for longer.
Strength Train 2–3x Weekly – Builds muscle and boosts your metabolism long-term.
Reduce Chronic Stress – Breathwork, walking, yoga or journalling can work wonders.
Balance Your Plate – Include healthy fats, complex carbs and fibre.
Sleep Well – Aim for 7–9 hours each night and create a proper wind-down routine.
You don’t need to punish your body to lose fat – you need to support it.
